In Her Own Words

I’ve linked to and talked about the issues surrounding the closing of the WOC Blog and the general silencing around Women of Color that happens in the feminist movement.

Now in her own words BrownfemiPower discusses shutting down her blog, why she rebels against the label feminist now and the way she’s been misrepresented around the internet. I would quote but I don’t want to cut her words and take the wrong piece, y’all just really need to head over and read the whole thing.

That’s exactly it. Just because we have to step away from the discussion for our own sanity and health does not make us the losers in that situation. And I think that’s something we all have to be reminded of from time to time.
